Financial Education for All NYS Kids

Over and Over Since 2009

Repeatedly bills have been proposed in both The State Senate and Assembly for a financial literacy curriculum. In January 2022 a mandate was passed for a pass/fail course in the senior year of high school. It is not being implemented across the state. Even if it was, is such a program enough?

There are many ready made resources for financial education

One company offers a program for grades 4-12 that covers spending and saving, income and careers, credit and borrowing, entrepreneurial exploration and basic investing. Akron Central School District in Western New York is a successful model using Next Gen Personal Finance program for grades 6-12.
